This was one wild idea! Hosting a micro-conference about game music at the biggest rock festival in the country – Rock for People …
But judging by the feedback: IT WORKED!
How did it go?
Every festival day from 1–4 PM, we held three talks – from the perspective of a composer, technical composer, sound designer, veteran or producer. From 4–5 PM, we wrapped up with a group panel discussion.
It was amazing to hear Jan Valta (Kingdom Come 2) and Jiří Janouch (The Last Oricru) talk about composing for games, see how David Wurczel composes and implements music to games, or learn how Vojta Nedved records sound of arrows for KCD 2. Jan Kavan’s (Someday You’ll Return) session was really special – since he teaches game music!
Special thanks to Pavel Dobrovský for the history presentation and stream at Retro Nation channel🙏 And Tobias Stolz-Zwilling for the unexpected panel appearance!
We saw magical melody demos, gained insights into sound creation, and even discussed how tricky it gets when somebody ruins your timing. Who? The Player!
Big thanks to everyone from Cyber Sail Consulting, Vladimir Gersl and Mikoláš Tuček - and fingers crossed for next year!
PS Cool name „Play the Game“, don‘t you think 😉
